This week: Slumdog Millionaire, Taken, Transporter 3, Quarantine and College.
Staring from this week i will be posting my Film picks. This will be a list of films iv’e watched on DVD and some at the Cinema. I try to watch at least 1 new movie a day, because in order to get this blog to the level i want it at, i need some work in to being a better film reviewer. Seeing movies is a high passion of mine, i get taken into the world of the film and try to understand why i like it or why i dont. Im not going to leave bud reviews on each film, just a simple run down of what i thought.

“Slumdog Millionaire” - 2008

All i can really say is WOW. This film was so touching and well directed in all ways possible. I could go seriously go on for hours about how much i loved this film, but i will not, but this film is a MUST SEE. Its got great characters, and an even better storyline. Its about a boy wanting to be with his love and doing everything it takes to be with her again. Living in the slums on India, then going on live Television of the show “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” just to make his dream come true is what makes this film so enjoyable to watch. Its already won a whole heap of awards, and is line to get a few oscars for sure. Go out and see this film.
“Taken” – 2008

This film was interesting to watch, and in many ways. Seeing Liam Neeson in this role was an excellent choice i believe. He played it so well and is still doing great work as an actor. The film revolves around Liams daughter being kidnapped and sold for sex, basically. So now you have Liam running all over Europe killing bad guys trying to get his girl back, which is played by Maggie Grace (LOST), and she is also a great bonus to this film. I found it different in most of the ways these types of films play out, and even though i knew he would get his daughter back, it was great seeing him do it in the process.

“Transporter 3″ - 2008

I really enjoy Jason statham, i think he is on the rise in being huge. The previous Transporter film very enjoyable to watch, i loved part 2 with its fast paced shooting and over the top stunt scenes. I was looking forward to part 3, but i have to say, it fell short for me. I think this is because i had really high hope for this one. After seeing part 2, i was telling myself that Part 3 would be twice as good, and yes i was wrong. However this feels just like the previous films, it has your car chases. your fighting scenes where its 10 on 1, and u even got more girl action in this one, which is always good. I did find it hard to understand some of the dialogue in this movie, most of the talk was by russian men and even Jason seemed hard to hear at times, but maybe its just me. I would still recommend this film, but dont expect it to be more then the previous films.
“Quarantine” – 2008

This film was a remake of the spanish film “Rec” . After watching it i could probably describe it as a cross between “Cloverfield” and “28 Days Later”. If you can handle the visual style of cloverfield and blair witch, then this ones for you. It has some pretty freeky scenes in this film, and some that just come out of nowhere. Its good for a scare, if your watching it with mates, and the story line to the film is weird and falls short of being something its not. The film needed a better end to the story, most endings are like this one. This isn’t the worse film i’ve seen, i actually enjoy the cloverfield style of it.
“College” - 2008

This film i was waiting to see for a while. It never got released here, so i had to purchase the film on dvd. I love this kind of comedy, if you liked superbad, then chances are you would like this. I could even come close to saying it would have made a great sequel to it. Its about 3 kids that spend the weekend at a college to try and see what its all about, and also get drunk and party all night. Its your typical older college guys that give them trouble, but in between the 3 kids get drunk, have sex and get revenge all in the end. Its fun to watch with some great lines you will be repeating afterwards. Grab it if you liked Superbad.
